The San Francisco Examiner is shining a spotlight this morning on something I think everyone already knew. That credit card companies are finding new ways to skirt new laws.

The latest hijinks? Creating imaginative new fees designed to recapture some of their lost income.

In particular, beware of big-discount rebate offers that can be revoked suddenly and leave cardholders stuck with high charges. So-called “professional cards,” a hybrid of corporate consumer cards, are exempt from the new regulations.

Don’t say we didn’t tell ya so.
